Here's some '70s Jazz-Fusion guys that played MM-
Danny Wilson- Jeff Lorber Fusion
Jim Kurzdorfer- Spyro Gyra's original bassist
Charles Meeks- Chuck Mangione ( Feels So Good era)
...and both the guys from the Average White band-
Alan Gorrie
Hamish Stuart
In the late '70s, a lot of guys that played Fender P-basses migrated over to a Sting Ray...billed in some product reviews as a "Precision bass in a tuxedo".

Yeah but he DID use one at some point
Alot of punk players use Stingrays; Rodger from Less than Jake, the bass player from the godawful Reel Big Fish uses a SR5, the bass player from Descendants/All, the bass player from Millencolin used/uses one, those are ones I remember off the top of my head anyway, there are quite alot of Stingray fans as far as punk is concerned.
Stingrays seem to be a staple of post-hardcore players too; Fugazi (when Lally wasn't using a Jazz), At the Drive-In, don't know post-hardcore as well as I should but I'm very forgetful, and alot of post-hardcore bassists seem to use them.
Oh and the guy from AC/DC... strangely.
