What Happened To Bass Playing Like This?

Sign in to disble this ad
The first 2 minutes.

Greg is rarely mentioned as one of the greats. But who plays like this today? It KILLS!

And just a good ol' J bass. The sound is awesome.

Though I'm not sure if it's good for metal.

Thanks for posting this. I haven't heard Tank in years. What a great sounding bass !

One of my early favorites I'd forgotten about.

...yeah, good question.

The newest Bass Player mag (Ricky Minor on the cover) has an "article" with Greg Lake.
I usually support BP...one big/major gripe I have: BP finally gets around to doing an article with an iconic player...and the article is a mere 2-3 pages of mostly fluff. IMO, the long-awaited piece on Peter Cetera from a couple years back fell into the same category.

Greg Lake is great. Very tasteful lines.

I always loved Greg Lake. His work on Brain Salad Surgery is fantastic.
His superb bassline on "From the Beginning" is one of the classiest ever recorded.

+1, I understand they might have to keep the page count down, but they could put a lot more follow-up material on their web-site. I dig drum magazines because they ask way better questions than most other mags, Jonathan Movers Drum magazine is great!
