well im a pretty good arounder..i dont consider myself anything..but to put things into perspective..im bassically a Stuart Zender wanna be..i get the groove goin in a sweet little riff and tease it and play around with it.using slides, hammer's slapping...and my latest exploit a bit of tapping here and there as well as harmoinics (i still dont get that artificial jobby .,give me a song and i put wotever round it..but be warned i tend to play very fast..and stuff tho not always in time..but im workin very hard on that...it think i need a bass teacher...

i voted uncontrolled groove 'cause i generally like to just throw down something solid for most songs and then occassionally just thrash away at the root, some songs just need that.
at the same time though being in a three piece alot of the time i am doing more melodic stuff also since i've got more gaps to fill than someone in a bigger band

i don't know, i play the damn thing loudly and badly!

"Melodic Groove" is the closest to describing your soul dripping off your fingers and through the strings. Wide open and transparent, your very essence fills the voids in the music, communicating with everyone and all of creation in a way that goes beyond words and understanding.
Hopefully, this is something we all strive for.

Unless of course, you're playing cheesy cover tunes to support your family and to pay your rent/mortgage. If this is the case, then God will have a special place for you in heaven where no obnoxious drunk with a twenty dollar bill can ever torment you again.

i must say i voted melodic. i can groove, im not too bad at it but i love to play lil sweet molodies on my bass. check out Dune Tune by Mark King. I can play it!
i would ave voted melodic groove or groove melodic but my playing swings towards the melody than the groove which it shouldnt cause i play bass! but still what the hell. ill be honest!

Truthfully,I'm much more of a melodic/groove minimalist.I try to play what's appropriate for the song.IN my younger days I was a semi-controlled groove melodizer(I don't know if that's a real word, but you get the idea.) Nowadays I'd rather use the least amount of notes and incorporate silence, rests, and stops to make a statement.Less is still more;for me,the song is the top priority. In the words of Robert Deleo," It's not about the notes,it's about the feel."

If I ignore the fact that I suck, I suppose I play root, with some wandering around in between.
