What kind of bassist are you?

Just wondering what kind of mix of folks we have in here... Seems there are a lot of varied personalities and skillsets.

I've always either played punk rock or metal with a short stint in a ska band in the mid 90s.

Not too bad but it's a little hard to determine all the different types of music in a small list. I am not sure about punk rock needing it's own category. I would have rather liked heavy rock instead. Where do you put Sevendust?

I'm solidly in the Pop\Rock\Classic Rock genres right now, but always shedding and trying to improve on other genres such as Funk, Soul, R&B, Reggae, Blues, Bluegrass, Folk, etc.

i'm into a little known genre called "Art Damage". brainchild of my mentor in the early 80's in san francisco. a brilliant eccentric multi-instrumentalist who created music with such things as industrial noise, toilets flushing, and reverse spoken word. using whatever was needed to accomplish his next masterpiece. the genius was that he could imitate said noises on stage with common instruments with a four piece band and sound very musical. the punk rockers loved this guy!

I had to say *other* as I'll play w/e the gig calls for(w/in reason & my 'abilities'), except country. I could not play a primarily country gig.

Pop rock, classic rock, rock, metal, usually, these days though, a lot of blues(espcially of the RnB variety, Blues Brothers kinda stuff), balldy stuff, melodic instrumentals, and other stuff.

I practice a little jazz too, and some classical.

Country metal dub with a hint of red-cabbage sauerkraut, but please... I really hate to be labeled, so put me down for mid-60s elevator muzak.
