- Patience, patience, patience.

- Perseverance, perseverance, perseverance.

- Religious devotion to your "Tone God."

- Incomprehensible love of the instrument and its function in music.

- Being clinically diagnosed as "insane"......seriously, if I could explain it, I probably wouldn't be doing it.

It's awfully hard, if not impossible,to dissect yourself. You do it because you need to.....not because you want to understand it, at least for me.

"True Love" defies comprehension.

- Knowledge of your instrument is what separates the amateurs from the pro's

- Assumption is the mother of all ****-ups

- Patience is thy friend.

- technique.. the way to live

- Equaliser voodoo.. ( not a \/ shape on your EQ )

- Loyalty to your gear ( if you switch string-brand every week, you will never learn to play properly )

I know there are two 'n's in guinness. But, when I originally started using guinessdrinker for my email and other logins, the 2 'n' guinness was already taken.

Definitely a strong sense of rhythm. Creativity is important but that applies to all musicians. You need to be able to hear through the harmony and play notes that everyone else can land on.

1) read last page of bass player magazine for this month.... lots of invaluable info there!!!!!!

2) a unique combination of discipline and restraint that is not associated with any other instrument.... combined with endless pursuit of

tone

and

feel

This was done in the eighties in Boston. They were called the Concussion Ensemble. They were Great!
