so what band stuff have you scored from concerts? don't have to be all bassist. caught a stick from the earshot drummer. met Cinder Road, daughtry's opening band, at a hotel. there drunk bassist took a newspaper with a picture of daughtry, stuck his tong through it, made impressions of daughtry, had the whole band sing it, and gave it to me. met 3 fantastic, got a free cd singed by all the members. met haley williams ( paramore) (omfg HOT) at warped tour, and got there guitarists pick. saw tim macelrath (rise against) in his parked tour bus, brushing his teeth. LOL. the funny thing is, i didn't not know who rise against were at the time (saw there concert later that night). now, they are my favorate, and i kick myself for not meeting him.

@nal blast gave my friends and I each a free t-shirt, a copy of one of their cd's (name to vulgar to post) as well as a copy of their split with Cephalic Carnage. Then the singer recorded my voice mail message lol.

I got one of Vaders drummers sticks signed.

Kataklysms bassist gave me his old used strings when I asked while assisting him in a set up!

I have tons of posters from shows I've worked that the bands signed for me like Candiria, Thrusday, Everytime I Die, Converge, Vader, Lamb Of God, 18 Visions, ect.

One time my glasses got broken at a Dillenger Escape Plan show, I was walking around trying to find the frames and lenses after the show when the drummer (Chris Penne now of Coheed and Cambria) came over and helped me look, we found both lenses so he and the other members signed the lenses.

When I used to smoke and first started out at the club I was the club runner and I would have to take the bands where they needed to go. Often it turned itno a "roadie" somewhere out in the country before stopping at Wal-Mart where they would buy all kinds of pointless things just because they had money. Anyway one time I lent a band called "Opiate for the masses" one of my smoking tools... well they never gave it back. I called them up the next day and they totally forgot and said they would get it back to me when they were back around.... they called me out of the blue almost a year later to say they were playing Warped Tour so I drove out to Milwuakee and they got me in for free... the funny thing is, they had my smoking tool still and they signed it. It's been a long time since I've done that... it's in my past years ago as I've grown up, but I still have that smoking tool.

Working at a club you often end up scoring lots of weird things from rock stars, and it seems... they're eagar to put their names on anything.

Peace

-Benny

That is awesome in a surreal sort of way! Got an empty Rolling Rock beer bottle from the guitar player in MCM and the Monster (any Bay Area people remember them?) after their set. He was kind of mean about it but probably would have been much happier were I a cute girl asking him for his empty beer bottle he just finished! Ha ha! And he may have been a little buzzed. Memories.

In 1999 I caught Ace Frehley's guitar pick... well it bounced off my shoulder, and then I had to fight 5 people to get it. I still have it... to bad I'm not really a Kiss fan.

I got a pick from Coheed and Cambria, but my friend (who's also a bass player) got a piece of piano from them. I don't know how.

nothing

i used to live opposite the carling acadamy newcastle though, all the tour busses used to park opposite my window. once i just saw god forbid just standing on the street corner before heading to a signing at the local record store. i wish i was a more confident person, maybe then i woulda shouted "you rock!" out the window

edit: oh i just remembered something. i was standing near the front during turbonegro's set at Leeds Festival and i scored a turbonegro dollar that they fired out of a cannon.

Spring 1993, Maynard Ferguson and his Big Bop Nouveau Band concert, I locked my keys in the car and didn't realize it until after the show.

My buddy went on the band's tour bus to mooch a coat hanger from Maynard to open the door.

Does that count?

in 1975 my bandmate got Rod Stewart's mic stand from a concert at ...uh, I forget, some outdoor venue in New Jersey. He was just standing at the edge of the stage after the show while the crew started striking and some roadie said "Hey kid, catch!" and threw it to him!

We used that mic stand in our band for the next 10 years. The thing that was especially cool about that stand was that unlike any other mike stand I've ever seen in my life, this one was made of super thin-walled aluminum, not much more durable than a beer can. The entire thing (straight stand w/ tripod legs) must've weighed less than half a pound. Explains how Rod was able to whip the thing around all over the place without passing out.

...well, except for that time he passed out...

I have one of Dimebag's picks, and one of Rex's, both from the Pantera gig at the Brixton Academy, 2000 I believe.

I also caught 2 of Geezer Butler's picks from the Heaven and Hell show, surprising as he played fingerstyle all night.

One of my drummer friends had an astonishing knack of catching drumsticks - he's got quite a collection. He was also 'lucky' enough to catch a teabag - used - that was thrown into the crowd by S.O.D. at the LA2 a few years back. He's still got it.

Well, back in 1989 or 90, my rock band was loading in to do a show on a Riverboat. There was a nice, humble, polite, young fellow leaving the boat who had just played an acoustic show.

We talked for a while and he said, "Hey, my album is going to be released soon.", and gave a guitar pick with his name on it to my singer.

My singer gave it to me when the guy left. Said, "Put it in your pocket, he might be somebody one day."

Still got that pick...

It says "Garth Brooks".

Does an almost count?

When I was 12 (in 1979) At a Judas Priest/Kiss concert, Gene Simmons threw out one of his picks.

It landed on the toe of my shoe.
I saw it for about 1/4 of a second.
I was mobbed and almost lost my shoe in the process.
So close, yet so far.

Then they invited us to leave

Heck, nobody knew who he was. His first album hadn't even been released.

We saw him on TV a few months after that and we were like, "Hey! Isn't that that guy/"

Caught one of Mike Portnoy's drumsticks at a show in Maryland about 10 years ago.

2 Yngwie Malmsteen pics at the same club as the Dream Theater show.

Had one of Alex Lifeson's picks bounce off me at a show and then no one could find it on the floor.
