| | | | I like early RHCP albums more than the late ones, and my favourite "slap" tunes are:
From "Red Hot Chili Peppers": True men don't kill coyotes, Get up and jump*
From "Uplift Mofo Party Plan": Walking on down the road, Skinny sweaty man, Backwoods, Fight like a brave
From "Mother's milk": Pretty Little Ditty, Higher ground, Nobody weird like me
*actually I hate the song itself, but bass+guitar are awesome |

I would think any envelope filter would get you at least close to that sound, but I could be wrong. The DOD pedal is fairly inexpensive though. |

^Yes. This.
The B-section to Stone Cold Bush might be the funkiest thing ever created.
'Jungle Man' was the song I learned to thump on. 8 hours and many liters of sweat later and I was hooked.
Nobody mentioned 'Aeroplane'? Yeah, I know it's somewhat cliche now, but that line is very, very good. I think it's even funkier played finger style.
The solo section on 'Soul to Squeeze' is very cool
