What is your night like when the drummer has a bad one?

When this happened to me, I had to work my rear off for four sets. I would break over to 1/8th notes at times to get the kick back in rhythm, sometimes 1/4 notes would work. a Waltz was a difficult one to work when the drummer was off.
What about you?Can you relate?

I always have to make these angry expressions at my drummer to make him wake up at times, he's kind of a show-off drummer, playing simple and straight for the song can bore him >_> I've discovered you just have to look really intense at them when they go off and feed them alcohol between songs! But not too much, they'll fall asleep!

I'm going through this right now. Maybe not by our drummer having a bad night but by our drummer taking a break. We have a newer drummer and he's just not a groover. He love taps the drums and has no sense of dynamics. He doesn't know when to build it up or die it down. This is at church mind you, not in a band setting, so we play a lot of stuff unrehearsed and feed off the worship leader.

We're getting through it. It's not like it's horrible but it's a lot of just staying within the parameters and not grooving as much as I like. The other drummer and I are also in a band outside of church so we lock in pretty well, plus we both have plenty of experience, but this new drummer isn't at the same level so we're just sticking to basics. He's coming along but it's taking some patience on our part.

I was in the studio for another band, doing their demo tape and I made a intro mistake on one song,no one else heard it but I requested to do the intro over. This was a budget job for these guys so there was just a few tracks and the kick was on my track, The drummer could not do just the kick he had to play all the drums and cymbals. Drummers are a different breed.
I'm not going to tell you how many drum sticks have hit me, I worried about them going on the dance floor.
Been poked in the head by violin players a time or two also.
