Actually the original version was John Lennon penned tune and it hasn't got a bass on it. It IS however one of the most beautiful melodies that Lennon ever came up with.

In the same article he spoke of meeting Sting and referred to him as "a playing mother" (it was a compliment)
Jack Bruce once recalled a Jam session with Jaco in a very recent BassPlayer interview in which Jaco'd dare him to play some mingus tunes (while being unaware of Bruce's past as an upright player in the Jazz combo of Graham Bond) and Bruce left him astounded by his skill and ease with which he took his dare head on.

Jaco then told Bruce that his agressive lead bass playing and extended Jams with Cream were a big influence on his own thing.

I BEG YOUR PARDON?

Just so you know, she played both drums and guitar in her first band: The Breakfast club.

Madonna laying down beats with the Breakfastclub in 1980

Madonna rocking out.

In one of the very first interviews she gave after her debut solo album was released, she claimed to have played all the rythm tracks and guitar tracks herself.

what she does now is simply returning to the guitar.

Okay...so that completely nullifies my previous statement.
