The Highest he ever got was Freewill, a couple moments after the Bass Solo; ('Each of us/A cell of awareness/Imperfect and Incomplete....'). Then again that scream in Cygnus X-1: Book II Hemispheres could be it.

As far as the other end of his range, i couldn't help ya.

Cheers,
Ox

Yes there's a link on Wikipedia to an interview where he says that Freewill is the highest he can sing.

Geddy during A Farewell to Kings, or Geddy during Snakes and Arrows? His range isn't what it used to be.

Not sure about his vocal range, but I'm pretty sure he wears a size 11 in sneakers.

Exactly.

In standard choral literature in Western music, tenors mostly need use the D below middle C to the G a 5th above it. Yes, I know he's not singing in choir, but the most-often used range remains the same. The thing is, we all have notes on both sides of our range that aren't as strong. On the lower side of our voices, it becomes closer to our speaking register, but the higher side can in theory go on indefinitely, particularly in a male.

I realize you're probably asking what his range is from exact note to exact note, but perhaps only Geddy knows for sure--if he's even taken the time to find out. (For example, when I was younger before my voice had fully matured I had a working range of 2 octaves and Perfect 4th. It may be different now, and I'd have to work to find out just what my limits are.)

Not sure if that's the case or just that he doesn't want to sing in extremely high pitch anymore. Outside the proggish hard rock style of the '70's, I'm glad he doesn't.

That's kind of the thing with Rush's music--Geddy's got this reputation for a super high-pitched voice and shrieking vocals, and he hasn't sung that way in 20 years (more, really). I guess if you're not a fan, their music kind of froze in time around 2112 or maybe Permanent Waves, huh?

Tenor bacause of his timbre, but I really doubt that he ever reached that high G somebody mentioned.

I remember back in the early 80's how he could really scream. He's definately lost a great portion of his range,.Although for his age he's impressive.
