What's the most common bass used by metal bassists?

Sign in to disble this ad
So many people write about the best bass for metal, which comes up about once a week on here. Anyway, what do you think is the most common bass used by metal bassists? Answer either for the whole genre or one specific genre of metal. Im going go with MusicMan's for modern hard rock/metal (ie.: Disturbed, Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold) and Warwicks for harder stuff (Mudvayne) Of course there are exceptions, but i just thought it would be interesting to find out.

Its a combination of a few companies but Ibanez seems to stick out the most.

prepare to be trolled...

in Shadows fall/Killswitch the Ibanez SRX series is pretty common.

stingrays are also pretty common in the heavier deathcore type stuff like All Shall perish, Parway drive type stuff.

i dont think there is a "best" bass for metal if you look at metal bands they range from warwicks to rickenbackers to fenders to yamaha its the player that makes the bass sound metal the instrument is just a tool for him to produce it (well that and a stonking big amp)

ibanez seem to be quite common as to warwicks though

The best bass for metal is an 'electric' bass.

I just remembered ESPs are used A LOT. I watched a roadrunner dvd with about 20 song video clips, and over half of the bass players were using ESP.

Alright, if I had to answer the question I would suggest something long scale, 35" or more, to deal with low tunings. There.

still, so have many other topics, such as the "what should I get" threads. I just dont think every metal thread should be littered with troll comments.

Anyone use a Cirrus for metal/heavy rock? I have a BXP 4 that I use and I'm looking to upgrade to an American 5 Cirrus. I love the feel of my BXP so I'm thinking that the American will be very similar (considering the 4 vs 5 strings of course). I'm borrowing an Ibanez now and I love the sound, just not the feel. Which Ibanez has the thinest neck?

Great ballsy tone. Spector's just seem to cut and provide a great low end crunch in a heavy metal/hard rock setting.

I must say that ESPs seem to stick out a bit, for some reason metal players seem to be the only ones who like them. Apparently, this isn't true in their country of origin, though.
