He's talking about Lee Sklar...who played with James Taylor in the '70s(early '80s?).
Check out "Your Smiling Face"...that's Sklar in that particular era of James Taylor.
During that time frame, Sklar also played in The Section(w/ Danny "Kootch" & Russell Kunkel)...an almost "Fusion" group that opened for Taylor back then.

I never heard of the guy until I bought the latest Hidden Beach Recordings "Unwrapped" cd and heard someone absolutely 'killin' the bass and looked at the cd credits and saw his name. That boy is nasty!!!!
