Mine's "Baby Don't you do it" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DfQ5N1TyTw
his lines in that song are just unreal. Gives a real groove to the song and imo, outshines the whole band while doing so |

He wasn't the only one, of course; Bruce, Casady and Lesh, for example, were expanding the parameters of the instrument at the same time. But for people of a certain age, the breaks in "My Generation" are the s***!
(And when we got to hear him do it live with the T-Bird thru Hi-Watt stacks - Holy Crap!!!) |

| | | | For the Ox's playing: The Real Me - An amazing amount of talent and technique and one hell of an ear for music went into that bassline.
For his writing: My Wife - A brilliant combination of an upbeat feel to a darkish theme. A very cool chord progression that's a lot of fun to play. |

Quadrophenia is one of my favorites in general - but almost all of the Who stuff is great (except Squeezbox - still have a problem with that one.......) |

Most of Quadrophenia but especially "The Punk and the Godfather", "5:15". Also "Sparks", especially the Live at Leeds version. |

To quote Pete ... Entwistle redefined the bass guitar ... except his quote was more colorful. |

| | | | It's rumoured that JE played The Real Me was just sitting on a speaker warming up to the track without knowing that PT had pushed "record". The track finished and Pete said " nice, we got it". Owned.
For me, Bargain is a masterpiece of bass greatness. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
