He has a very unique style, very minimalistic, but perfect for the music. I love playing his lines; the simplicity and rockin' nature of them really makes me appreciate bass.
What do you think of him? Do you think he's been innovative for bass? He helped bring 5-string to the forefront of modern music. Is that a good thing, a bad thing?
Any comments on particular lines or anything in general.

i have nothing against p-nut.. but i do however... have something against the bands second vocalist and how he skips and prances around stage.... |

Yeah!, It only took me 6 years to become a supporting member.

P-Nut will lay down a solid groove, but the guitar will double it. There would be so much more melodic interest if the guitarist didn't just double the bass, especially when you've got a monotone rapper.

Quit judging people strictly by what you hear on the radio.

Lighten up, Francis. People are entitled to their opinions, so quit whining. Jeez! How old are you? 12?

calm down. the title is OPINION.... people are posting their OPINION.
a personal belief or judgment that is not founded on proof or certainty; "my opinion differs from yours"; "what are your thoughts on Haiti?"
if someone hasnt seen him in a jazz club then they cant base their opinion on that and can only base on what they see. |

this thread was intended to ask people about their opinion on p-nut. there isnt any need to push your opinion on someone else. if someone hates him FINE if they are in love with him FINE. for the sake of the person that started this thread im leaving it at that- so this thread wont be closed. |

I didn't say he should like P Nut because I do. Hell, I didn't even say I liked him. I just merely pointed out different aspect of the guy. Reading comprehension is your friend, really.

I really dig both p-nut and 311. Like alot of people have said, he plays perfectly for the band he's in. He may not be the most innovative bassist ever, but he comes up with stuff that I never would. He is one of the top 5 bassists that taught me how to play, along with Matt Sharp of Weezer/ Rentals fame, Tom Drummond of Better Than Ezra, Mike Herrera of MxPx and (most recently) Tim Smith of Jellyfish.
Also, I'd like to say that while Tim (guitars) and Chad (drums) aren't the greatest musicians ever, if I ever were to play either instrument, they would be huge influences on me.
One last thing, looking down on other musicians, however self-gratifying, is lame. I catch myself doing it, especially in the local scene, but we have to realize that we can learn something from everyone, no matter what. Putting others down does nothing to help them or us. |

So wait, what are your thoughts on Rage Against the Machine?
