Never heard the word until I found TB. Is "Paul" too hard to say or something? |

I don't know the man well enough to ever be comfortable using it.

Like fellow footballers famously call David Beckham "Becks"...

It's how a lot of the tabloids refer to him, and he's in them nearly every day at the moment.
It's a lot more pleasant than what they're calling his missus.

If you've never heard the word, it's your fault. You're American I assume? You've missed out. |

Thanks. |

| | | | When I was growing up in England I was sometimes called Wacca. There's no rhyme or reason to it, but it's quite a common thing I think. |

Is it like the "Wacca wacca wacca" that the Jim Henson muppet character would say?

| | | | Exactly right. To be fair it was mainly one of my football (soccer) coaches who was a bit barmy and would just shout it from the sidelines during matches.
Luckily it didn't catch on, or else I'd probably have changed my name long ago. |
