Where do you play?

Was just wondering.

For example, I'm in a covers band playing all the dull songs that every covers band plays, and I'm fed up with it... but having had a 10 year lay-off due to RSI, perhaps I should just be thankful I'm in a band at all.

My main gig is a cover band, as cover bands the most succesful gigging bands in my area. I'd rather be playing some jazz or fusion or even jam type stuff, but you won't get many gigs playing that around where I live.

I like the band I'm in, but we play originals and some of the songs just suck. Check out the website below. I wrote the second song, it was the worst out of four I wrote and it was the one broadcasted.

I play in one band that does weddings, and private partys. (covers)

A blues band the plays original, and jam tunes.

And I do sub-work for other bassists.

All are fun.

Subbing is cool because, alot of times I go to gig not knowing what I'm going to play.
Most of the time it's great.
Sometimes there are train wrecks.
Just play and learn.

Our guitarist/lead singer and our drummer have had a weekly jam session going for years. In the last year or two, it's turned into a "band" (rhythm guitarist switching to drums so we'd have some percussion, addition of me on bass, addition of lead guitarist(s), addition of piano, etc.) - but we're hitting whatever covers move us (in whatever arrangement we feel like), as well as our ringleader's originals and some fairly free-form jams. We've done some open mics, but not in a little while.
