I love the tone of this old Jazz - and the driving, full steam ahead playing with a few tasty fills thrown in is right up my alley...

Who is this guy?

GCjr ain't to shabby either, great tunes!

That seems to be the "GREAT" Tommy Sims, look him up. Great bassist, songwriter, producer... he does it all. Overall great career. One of my favorites and did I mentioned, "Great" bassist

I was at this gig. And I really did feel bad for Gary Clark Jr, because there were MAJOR problems with the PA during his very short time on stage at Crossroads. The band was largely Sheryl Crowe's backing band, and yes that was Tommy Sims on bass. Because of the PA problems much of the crowd in attendance couldn't hear what was happening on stage.

Tommy Simms it is!

I knew I recognized him, I just couldn't put my finger on it. I've been watching videos with him playing with a bunch of different artists - the styles may be different, but the bass is always super solid. Great stuff!!

Too bad for the live problems for GC jr @ X-roads. At least they got it right on the video/ recording. He also got a major label record deal and a ton of exposure so I think it turned out pretty good for him.

Good thing I searched before posting this same question! The Washington Post just did a big front page story in its Style section on Gary Clark - I hadn't heard of him yet. He is awesome and this guy playing bass was so damn solid. And I love the paint job on the Jazz Bass!

Gary Clark came to my home town to open up for grace potter earlier this year. Best part about the whole show was that after the concert, Gary and his band came down the street to my favorite bar and played until about 2 am. There was probably about 50 people in the whole place. Hung with him and the group for about two hours. Also got to schmooze with grace potter and Catherine popper!! What an awesome night.
