Who was bass player for Yeah,Yeah,Yeahs?

YYY performed on Conan tonight. Their bass player looked a bit like Paz Lenchantin, but Paz plays/endorses Luna basses and this lady looked like she was playing a G&L.

Anyone know who the bass player was?

I just watched it.
It sure didn't look like Paz. And the bass was a regular Fender Precision with black tape over the logo.

I wear bifocals for reading and driving . . which means I can't see caca on TV.

The tape over the logo is very suspicious.

I checked the YYY website, but that was no help.

I'm going to send a message to Paz on MySpace and ask her.

Could be Sara Lee. She played for Ani Difranco when they toured as a trio in the '90s. I think she played a G&L. I'm just guessing though.

Oh I wasn't brow-beating you about the P Bass. I was lifting a brow wondering why some chick would cover up the logo.

To actively not endorse a company.

Just because she plays the instrument doesn't mean she wants to provide them free advertising on tv.

So as to not endorse a brand that doesnt kick her down with freebies maybe? Or she didnt want anyone to know she was really playing a Squier.

Maybe the studio has a deal with, say, Gibson, and the Fender/G&L stuff is not allowed by the TV production. I've seen that happen a few times around here (in Los Ang)

man... i just watched it and i noticed these things:

-So jelous of the guitarist's pedal set-up
-Bassist is adorable
-drummer has a big nose
-Karen O is kinda charming now that shes way less cracked out

dunno who the bassist is, dunno what she's playing. My money is on the Squier theory.

That's never made sense to me. Anybody who knows it's a Fender, knows you're playing a Fender, and you must be liking it or you wouldn't be playing it.

Covering up the logo isn't going to throw people for a loop wondering what on earth that unidentified thing is you are playing.

Maybe the fixed gear thing is bleeding over to bassists?

Like how messengers will tape up their Colnago or Bianchi logos to give it more 'street cred' or to make it less desirable to theives or even 'not to advertise for them'. Maybe we're entering a time of Fender backlash where it's cool to play, but not to advertise it.

"yeah... i mean, i love the way my Fender/Bianchi plays/handels. But you know, man... i'm no billboard for their corporate capitalist agenda, man."

Hmmm... conspiracy me thinks...

Who cares if the bass had tape on it? Did it sound good? Ok. Not sure who it was. They don't have a full time bass player, so maybe she was doing it as a one off.

just called Universal, my guy there said they are under contract with Gibson (hence - The Gibson Amphitheater on the lot). they legally can not show a fender, or any logo for that matter on any of their productions.

Ooooooh. Weird, but makes sence i suppose.

I have little Gibson experience... what would be the closest to a P tone? A Grabber?
