Who was the bassplayer for SWITCH!?!

Sign in to disble this ad
All right you old school R&B fans help me out with this one! I can't seem to find my Switch albums and my reasearch is coming up w/nada.
This is really frustrating because I really want to know who was laying down those licks. I do know that Jermaine Jackson did the prodution work, and he plays bass...could it be??????

No bassist is listed. I know there's a bass player on those songs!

Formed 1975 in Mansfield, Ohio, U.S.A.

Disbanded 1984

Switch were:

Bobby DeBarge (vocals) d. 16th August, 1995, from A.I.D.S.

Tommy DeBarge (vocals)

Eddie Fluellan (keyboards / trombone / vocals)

Renard Gallo (percussion / vocals)

Attala Zane Giles (keyboards)

Phillip Ingram (vocals)

Greg Williams (keyboards / vocals)

Jody Sims (drums)

Gonzales Ozen (percussion / vocals)

and Gregory Williams (keyboards / vocals)

Switch were another Ohio funk band, who began as First Class in 1975.

I pulled out my two Switch albums-
On Switch, Tommy DeBarge is credited as "Bass, backing vocals".
On Switch II, the back cover merely lists the band's members(same guys as the debut)...other musicians merely mentioned include Jermaine Jackson, Joe Sample, Greg Phillinganes, Tim May, Paul Jackson(I'm assuming it's Paul Jackson, Jr the guitarist & no relation to Headhunter Jackson).

On the 1st record, DeBarge is seen playing a brown Jazz with an Ampeg stack...playing finger-style.

I used to like playing "There'll Never Be"...kinda reminds me of how Verdine White might play on an EW&F ballad-type tune.

Man thanks to all! I know that younger brother Randy was also a pretty good player as well. Check out his work w/ DeBarge!

Theres that Jermaine reference! The rest of the line up would help to explain the lasting quality of their music.
