The first (electric) players I saw/heard using 3 fingers were Stanley Clarke and Billy Sheehan, 70's.

i hv been practicing 3 fingers for 6 months.i do 1321. No matter how hard i try, every time i change from 1 to 3 produce a different tone. Is this avoidable? There will always be some distance from 1 to 3 finger.
