I asked him to explain to me what the bass did, and if it just follows the guitar. He played me Abbey Road and told me to listen close to the bass. I still am. So initially Abbey road inspired me, from there the list is endless

| | | | MCCartney first , Jack Cassady second and then Jack Bruce . There are alot of good bassists who started as guitarists , Redding , McCartney , Ron Wood ( great with J. Beck ) but Jack Bruce started with 4 strings as a kid with cello and upright . A true bass player . God bless you Jack ! |

Now, a lot more people inspire me to play (Flea, Les Claypool, etc.), but Twiggy was most certainly the first I remember because he showed me that bass players could be charismatic and have character! So, big inspiration to stage presence, and also the reason why I have a Thunderbird (albeit an Epiphone). |

I didn't get my first bass until '91 but I guess that's what sparked it along with Caught in a Mosh being my favorite song at the time. Frank Bello and Dave Ellefson ruled it for me back then. |

"Chris Hillman?" you say? ... Check out "Renaissance Fair" on "Younger Than Yesterday". That was the first album I bought that wasn't a Beatles album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlsIfb4lo1c

Saw them at a Christian youth rally when I was a 7th grader who played guitar badly. Switched to bass shortly after this concert. Haven't looked back!
