I thought Flea is also a formally trained trumpet player?....

I get inspiration from plenty of musicians and artists in general. As far as bassists go, I would say Janek Gwizdala, Tony Grey, and Hadrien Féraud are at the top, especially Janek. Hearing his music and reading his take on many aspects of music has truly changed my perception of music and what it means to be completely dedicated to something.

Lately its been Stuart Zender, Arion Salazar, Jamie Cullem, Alkaline Trio. Beyond that, my Dad is pretty much the kind of person I strive to be. He doesn't play any instruments but he is my inspiration.

I never thought I'd say it, but I've been on a big Geddy Lee kick lately (pre-Moving Pictures). Musically I've been drawing a lot of inspiration from a lot of Krautrock bands and non-Western music (African mostly). I'm slowly gathering ideas to start writing my own rock band, maybe find people who will play it with me, I dunno.
