I do. The reason why I initially got into Rush was not Geddy's bass but his vocal. The 1st Rush song I ever heard was "Natural Science" on the radio long long time ago. I had never heard such a hysterical voice before. I got so hooked that I actually called the radio station to find out the song title and the band's name!

| | | | I didn't care so much for some of the earlier "shrill" stuff, but for the most part I think he does a pretty good job.
Very hard for me to bash others vocals because I have a very hard time with singing. Got a very limited range that keeps me from doing most stuff. |

No doubt he decided that he had to chill out a bit. I'm a bass player/singer too (though nowhere near as good as Geddy on either front) and I can imagine that he needed to figure out a way to sing that wouldn't kill his voice every night during tours.

The more I listened I became able to appreciate the uniqueness and range he's got. He sounds better to me on some stuff than other.
I think at the end of the day his instrument (voice) has helped him and the band more than holding them back (I wish I could sing like that!) There is only one Geddy, and he is unmistakeble. |

I also remember that I looked at the back of the cassette to see who the singer was. And for several months, I thought the singer was "Taurus Pedals"!!; (Geddy Lee sounded just as odd).

I never owned a Rush album or cd until after I started playing bass and that was just to listen to the bass lines. I often wonder how much better Rush would have been if they had a good singer. Would the Who have been as great as they were if they did not have Rodger out front? Yes, Pete & John could sing but Rodger put them over the top.

| | | | Geddy's voice is just one of things you have to accept in order to listen to his great bass playing; a lot like Les Claypool, since I couldn't imagine Primus without that voice. It just fits with all the rest.
