Who are the most intriguing ~fairly~ new bass players?

For the past few years, anyway, I've been really loving what Troy Sanders and Jeff Matz have been doing. Troy because he can really move a song and can flat out play the crap out of the bass. Jeff because of how he alternates between single notes and chords to fill the space in High on Fire when Pike is soloing and/or not playing rhythm parts. Jeff can also flat out play, but I really dig what he does with chords.

Joe Lester of Intronaut. Very groovy feel for metal, and a nice meaty fretless tone.

I Think I'm An Interesting Bassist

I shall try to be humble:

1. Check out my bass solos on American Zen albums...

http://www.americanZEN.org

2. I invented "bass poetry" on my third American Zen album.

3. Some of my songs have 3-part bass harmonies: "1,000 Sorrows For A Love."

http://www.LEVEL3iwantyoutoloveme.com

4. I've only used one bass since 1975, a dark green 1957 Rickenbacker 4000 with flatwounds, for all my session work and album recordings.

5. I've fronted many power trios on bass and lead vocals...

6. I never play slap bass, but when I play with my fingers, I'd like to think I resemble one of my early role models, Jack Bruce.

Humbly, yet confidently, The Coyote

Jon Leon of White Wizzard. Very much like an early Steve Harris, but played on a Hamer Blitz, and with more fills.

Gonna echo Troy Sanders.

Jeremy Davis of Paramore has also been doing some very cool things.

Mastodon has a lot of presence in the bass, but he usually uses distortion or fuzz, so he balances in the guitar very well, you just have to know what you're listening for.... For a long time, some songs I heard, I really thought I heard guitar, but it was very heavily distorted Bass.

Here's some songs that have non distortion parts in them, though they sound like they have a light fuzz on them. Troy 70% of the time has sometype of distortion on his bass.

Here's some very distorted bass songs.
Very distorted, just listen to the very low distortion sound.

But I'm also like the biggest Mastodon fan ever, so maybe its just easier for me to pick it up.

Ira Wolf Tuton of Yeasayer. Rocks fretless, uses effects *tastefully*, and sings great backup vocal.
