Who is the rocco prestia of Slap??

Sign in to disble this ad
I am a fam of rocco, What is hip is the tune I`ve learned more off, learn it and then you can play solid rock and funk, those straight 16ts are a really good practise. I also have learnt some of his tunes of the fingertule funk video.
As rocco doesn`t slap I want you to guess similar to whom he would sound..
I would love to listen to a bassist slapping comparable with the thightness and taste of rocco, one with perfect timing, solid groove, tecknical but not flashy, always in the context of the song

But I relate Marcus more to melody or as a soloist than a supporter of the band..
Parhaps a bassist with a supportive role as Louis Johnson, Mark king is also very funky and technical-are better choices

Or Stuart Zender in basslines like travelling without moving.. solid, technical, funky, in 16th, and agressive

Mark King of Level 42 has lots of moments like that.

With those rapid 16th notes, Mark King is...king.

The early stuff is nuts.

Wow - that was beautiful. I'm not a huge fan of slap acrobatics but this was impressive.

Two More Names

Bobby Vega plays at a very high level, whether using a pick, slapping, or playing fingerstyle - and he's a funky as can be.

Vega substuted for Rocco with Tower of Power while Rocco was recovering from his liver replacement sugery.

Rochon Westmoreland is an extraordinarily adroit bassist! You can hear him with Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns.

Tapping: Yes

Slapping: No.

I say Larry Graham, though one can hardly deny Marus/Mark King etc

Sometimes, if the song is good, the acrobatics fit.

He always impressed me with the way he can sing and play the bass line.

In this example, a synth also plays the bass line -
