Who saw VH last night?

Move this if it is in the wrong place Mod please.

Wolfie was imo never in the groove with Alex he had almost no stage presence and David L Roth tried all night to let us all no he was Ed's son. Wolfie was how should I say inconsistent heard a few mistakes with the volume he was playing he couldn't hide. 5 Amps on stage and my guess they were all on it was loud! We are talking Madison Sq Garden here people growing up in the family that pen these songs he should know them upside down by now. On a lighter note, Ed was amazing as was Alex. Diamond Dave needs to do something different he can't keep acting like he is a teen he just comes off as a clown. His vocals were okay. I was looking for energy in the new songs and they just weren't polished if not for a better word. I did get a decent cellphone shot of them on stage but, you can see they just looked lost up there sadly. Anyone else see them?

I thought they sounded better than when I saw them with Wolfie 3 yrs ago. That being said, they aren't what they once were, for sure. I didn't think Wolfie played horribly, but I did hear a few very distinct clams as well. Much as I miss Mike, I think Wolfie fills the roll OK. I'm not sure if they were using backing vocal tracks or not. If not, Wolfie's backing vocals have definitely improved. I like the way he stuck mainly to Mike parts on bass, but threw a bit of his own stuff in too. I did not like his tone at all. I concur, Eddie & Alex are definitely firing on all cylinders again.

All that being said, I still miss Mike. FWIW, Wolfie is NOT the weak link in the band, as much as it pains me to say that. That role is now filled by Roth. I always thought Sammy brought more to the table (musically) anyway. Roth flat out cannot sing anymore, and his stage personna is now that of a tremndous DOUCHEBAG !

Your concert experience sounds like the musical equivalent of your writing.

Seriously, these guys are pushing 60, this is as good as you're going to get from them. If the shows are disappointing to you can than you might start campaigning for a White Lion reunion tour or something. Youtube clips from last night sound pretty good to me.

As a bass player, I'm pleased to not sit through a MA bass solo/ oafish Jack Daniels promo. I understand his singing was a big part of the sound, but the new guy sounds good, too. So what if the kid won the genetic lottery, he's doing a nice job. Check the turnaround at 3:10 if you think the sound guys are piping in MA vocals:

My girlfriend was in another part of the room. When I played the video she came in and said,

"What is that, a cover band? That sounds bad."

Wow that vid was horrendous. I saw VH in 2004(ish) with Sammy, they were enjoyable, but Eddie took a 20 minute wank, Alex took a 5 minute wank which was actually taseful and impressive as hell, Sammy played some solo stuff (which I boo'ed, I did NOT come to see I can't drive 55)

The one thing I did notice though is that there were a LOT of fat people at the concert, like they all came out of the woodwork.

It was made even more funny years later when I was at Rob Zombie at a local club and some guy ordered nachos from the bar, so he stopped the band and pointed out how this guy ordered nachos at a concert. Told him not to worry about it, the show will wait for him to eat, then they played some Van Halen because "Van Halen always makes me (Rob) hungry" and ripped into Runnin' with the Devil. The guy ate a few nachos and then awkwardly stopped...

Also Eddie is a jerk, MA was a paid member not part of the band since VH3, they made him look like a member for the fans.... I used to respect him until I found that out

Lol ! Who are you to criticize a fellow member for voicing an opinion ? What does preferring the real deal have to do with White Lion ? Most of us are bass players on this forum so what's wrong with showing loyalty to an original member or noticing a replacement isn't up to par ?

Anyone who says Wolf is not up to par knows nothing about rock n roll bass. I havent seen the tour live yet, but I've seen alot of videos from it. I havent noticed bad vocals, or any bad bass playing.
I'm sure there there's mistakes here and there..I dont care about that..Its rock n roll!
And if someone is expecting Van Halen from 1981 that is just UNREALISTIC..Noone has that same abandon in them in their 50's that you do in your 20's. I like Michael Anthony and what he did in VH...But he was the smallest part, in my opinion, of what made them so great.

I just saw VH tonight and they were great. To all the Wolfgang haters, he can play and sing very well. I was a little skeptical about him before the show, but he has improved a lot since the last tour. Also Eddie played great.

Ha,ha,ha not a wolfie hater but if I am paying to see you play you sure as hell be better then me at playing! By the way rocking the bass for 40+
years private lessons for 10. My band which I penned all the songs which was across between Iron Maiden and Aerosmith signed with Warner bros in early 80,s as for music doing it right is important imo. And imo his connection with Alex needs improvement period.

Well he's better than me, I admit it. I thought he locked in with Alex. In my opinion DLR is the weak link in the band.

All I'm saying is when I see a live ROCK show, I'm not worried about perfection...Judging by the videos I've seen (and seeing VH in '08) Wolf can flat out play. And again, I think I'll trust Alex and Eddie not to have someone up onstage that cant hang...family or not.
Practically every video and live review I've seen says the band is smokin. So something doesnt jibe with what the Wolf detractors are saying. I will going to the show in June to get a firsthand account.
