who is Sealīs bassist?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, Iīve always thought Sealīs songs were a little bit commercial but since I started playing bass 4 months ago (well, actually learning music and how to play bass) I feel like I can appreciate other "hidden" parts and aspects of a song.

As a consequence I found some cool basslines in his songs, so I wanted to know who his bassist is and where can I find some tabs

thanks

Seal didn't have a single "go-to" bassist - session musicians were used on his first few records.

The players on the records were among the best of the best - Doug Wimbish, Pino Palladino and Laurence Cottle among others.

Pino Palladino(sessionist) plays in his most famous album.

In most recent albums Chris Bruce is the bassist, and in one of his albums (I believe Seal lV) Seal plays a lot of instruments including bass.

Good luck with your playing.

Yes, I had thought that he didn´t have "one" bassist... But I wouldn´t imagine Seal can play bass!!! then, he´s a talented guy.

So, do you know where I can find some of their tabs? ´cause there are parts I can´t figure out by hearing the song.

I saw him live and it was Tony Levin - I think a number of people played on various albums, as already mentioned.

I've never heard of Tony Levin playing with Seal studio or live; are you guys sure about that?

I know Reggie Hamilton played in his live band a bit and most recently Chris Bruce, who is a real mofo with a great tone. The live DVD is highly recommended.

As far as his early studio albums, word is that guys like Doug Wimbish and Pino played into a sampler and Seal and his producers assemebled the bass lines later. Whether this is actually true or not I don't know.

I really dig Seal's music; if you want to learn some great bass lines I would suggest:

Waiting For You
Future Love Paradise
Bring It On
Prayer For The Dying
Crazy
Get It Together

there's alot of them actually.
