Well I think it's pretty cool that they are going on as a four piece with Keys. I've seen them 4 times since al's passing. Oteil and Porter were the best Les claypool was goofy schools was ok but not after seeing Oteil and Porter. I would George to take over or meshell Ndege Ochello, also maybe Willie weeks. actually, yes you are watching thoughts develop mid text, willie weeks is my pick. he would be the best.

Well, I might be dreamin' here, but I think that Jack Bruce would be my favorite choice. It doesn't look like Cream is ever going to get back together (damn you Clapton!) and Jack is always a little below the radar screen (maybe the way he likes it). Jack's history is not to stay in a band for too long, so it may not be a long term solution. Could you imagine, they could do a couple of Cream tunes live as well. Plus Jack is a great writer and could contribute to a new album (maybe Warren wants to remain the main songwriter), and he's a great singer.

Well, I've convinced myself. Now I just need to convince Warren, Matt and Jack.

I don't think Greg Rzab played with the Black Crowes. I think he was Buddy Guy's bassist. Wasn't he? I thought Andy Hess played bass with the Crowes.

Greg Rzab played with the Black Crowes on their last gasp tour..........I've seen him with Buddy Guy, and he's a great player.....but....I don't know about the Gov't Mule fit

Funny you should mention Double Trouble because I was thinking of Tommy Shannon as a possible bassist for Govt. Mule. That said, I don't know if he would want to separate from the other half of Double Trouble. I guess they wouldn't be "double" anymore.

Another possibility is Roscoe Beck, but he might be too "smooth" for the Govt. Mule sound. Still, on the other hand, he might be an excellent fit.

I can think of a longshot, too...Lee Sklar. He certainly has a look that would combine well with the group what with his distinctive long beard.
