Jack Blades,and the words "funky bass player".I was thinkin',"No friggin' way!!"Night Ranger?Shaw/Blades?Damn Yankees?Ringo Starr's All-Star Band?No way!!He couldn't be a funky player.....

Until I heard this track from his band back in the 70's.Check it out.Sounds pretty damn funky to me.Ol' Jack seems to be a pretty versatile bassist.
Too bad he's pigeon-holed into being just a rock-oriented bassist.

Rubicon had great music. The songs were kinda meh but the music was always kickass. Jack Blades is a very talented and versatile dude.

Usually cats that have 30 year careers as hired hands have skills that aren't always *apparent.

While I agree with you about the skills of hired hands, I can't think of any band he was in where he was a hired hand, with the possible exception of Rubicon. With Night Ranger he was pretty much the bandleader. With Damn Yankees he was a partner.
