Geezer Butler, Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Billy Sheehan, Victor Wooten, Stu Hamm, John E., Less,..... Too many to list.

Don't pay too much attention to the jack asses on here. Post what you like, say what you like.

If it weren't for you this thing wouldn't exist.

Too many online and not playing.

Jason Newsted is a great metal bassists.

As of today, the japanese dude with the atelier Z wearing the school girl outfit

Not really but it (he/she) was pretty good.

I did the whole bass idol thing years ago... Manring, Wooten, Miller, Jaco, you name it. Eventually you get to the point where you say, wow they're good! what can I borrow, but they kinda lose their holycraptheyref******amazing status. Maybe that's just how I've ended up looking at it.

But really, if I had to pick one person who has inspired me more than any other, It's actually not a bassist but a composer. Yasunori Mitsuda, he's done a lot of tracks for video games.

somewhere between Ikuo [solo, Lapis Lazuli, BULL ZEICHEN 88, abingdon boys school, and many sesions] and Tissue Hime, lol

I also like Tadashi from Plastic Tree [my favourite band], he's not an outstanding bassist, but he composes and leads the band well, very cool guy too

Yu~ki [MALICE MIZER] and John Myung [Dream Theater] were really important for me in the past, as for starting to play and my musical direction

and Taiji [X JAPAN] was a big influence when I started playing with a pick

If I have to pick one, Tiran Porter of The Doobie Bro's.

Solid and melodic bass lines.

Send a message via Yahoo to Twiggy Jr.
look at my lil' s/n here
twiggy ramirez (jeordie white)
i started playing after i (an ex rap-fan) was basically made to go to a manson concert
after moshing i ended up right in front of twiggy for the encore and was literally front row to watch him play "1996"
i just remember seeing him up there, rocking the hell out, banging his head, and thought he basically was like a god.
i just thought "that is bad @$$"
my friend bought a guitar, got me to buy a bass (b/c i had no musical talent and it "had only four strings, so it's easy to play")
i ended up finding songs with "solo" bass lines, (polly, minute of decay, longview)
i found online some basic scales and what octaves are (yes, i had never touched a musical instrument before this), would work on finger speed/dexterity for a few hours in the morning, then play/learn/rock out to songs for four hours each night (mainly manson)
then i realized how awesome it is to write songs and decided i liked playing the bass (actually, i can play a few instruments now, but LOVE my bass, as it is my preference over anything), and realized i loved being a lyricist/songwriter more than anything
funny, b/c about a year ago i got the guitar world with twiggy on the cover and read the article, and they asked him about writing songs (most people don't know this, but he does the majority of the guitar playing for the albums) and he stated something to the effect (affect? no, i believe it's effect) of "i don't care about being a bassist, guitarist...to me it's all about writing good songs, regardless of what i play
odd how you eventually have so much in common with your influences, even w/o knowing it

Al Cisnero of Sleep an Om. I like how he can create such hypnotic riffs. Plus his tone is amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSLsCBU6DZY
