I want to hear who everyone's favorite bassist is, and why. Let's get a good discussion going!

Cheers

HAAAHAHAHAHAHA N00b

This should be in the "Bassists" forum.

That said, it's way too hard for me to pick just one bassist so out of my top crop, I'll just mention Pino Palladino for his effortless and free flowing musicianship

Nathan East is a very tasteful player that I really enjoy. Jimmy Johnson is another. Those two have bags of tastey playing. Johnson provides such a solid anchor, and drives James Taylor's music along. I prefer his era of playing to Leland Sklar, not to put him down by any means.

Classy retort. Welcome to Talkbass, Wall. And please don't take any of us as mean-spirited. More of a rookie hazing

I don't really care where it's posted... I just want to be the first one to mention Tal Wilkenfeld!

This is an often repeated thread, but hey who cares you don't have to post. However, I'll play. No one player holds that distinction for me (and many others) it's more a solid group of 5:

Pino; Roscoe Beck; Tony Levin; Rocco Prestia; Chuck Rainey
