This is one of the songs that made me want to play bass. |

| | | | Freddie is a rarity today -- playing modern R&B on a 4 string Precision (that's an old track, but he hasn't switched). In that context I find it's such a unique and refreshing sound! He's a force of nature. |

Wiki would have been faster than even TB. It took all of five seconds, and that's even going through Google, not going straight to Wikipedia...
But, thanks for giving me an excuse to listen to it again!

In the SITSOM book, he is pictured with a Ken Smith bass (in a project dedicated to the genius of Jamerson, someone shoulda submitted a picture with a P-bass. Somebody blew it).
And check out Freddie w/ Donald Fagen ( Morph The Cat + tour).

| What bass did you see there? The only pic I could find was of the S.Dan '06 tour, and he had the P. But I wouldn't be surprised if he sometimes uses something else.
I saw some not-too-old video of him on tour with a Funky R&B band (for the life of me I can't remember which), and he was playing the P there too. It sounded just perfect. :-) |

Could not find the photo online...did check Ken Smith's site, though. There is a relationship with Smith basses. Quote: |

| Morph The Cat was the P-bass.
IIRC (again), there was some here that were not too thrilled with a Fender P-bass...when Sadowsky basses had been used for the most recent Fagen/Steely Dan albums.
