I mean in terms of the quality of the act, the music and exposure.
A few years ago, I thought it was Nathan East with Clapton, now I'm not sure. Maybe Darryl Jones has the top spot with the Stones.
What do you think?

| | | | IMO, my buddy Jim Mayer who has been Jimmy Buffet's bassist for the last 15 years. They only play every three days or so for a couple of three month tours a year, Buffet uses them in the studio and gives song writing credit. They fly to the gigs and stay in the very best hotels, etc. I assume the pay is good, and every show is sold out (12,000-20,000 seat venues).
Plus.... Ralph McDonald plays percussion with the band.... what's not to like about that!
Also, the music is more interesting than you might think, and Jim gets to play fretless electric, DB and standard EB during the concert. What a gig! |

Clapton (20yrs & counting), Babyface & Phil Collins just to name a few! I know Daryl Jones is getting paid very well but Nathan's gotta be at the top of the pay scale! Here's an interview MF did with him for more info!

He's playing in a band that he loves, it was already established, they sell out everywhere, they continue to come up with new music constantly, plus he's in Metallica. That's gotta count for something |

He has the Clapton thing, as well as Fourplay with Bob James, Larry Carlton and Harvey Mason. Then there's all the studio stuff and tours with a number of other artists. He has 7 pages of credits at allmusic.com. He's also a great singer. |

a way cool TV gig w/Letterman, a fun Beatles cover band, top NYC session player... and endorsed by Sadowsky! Can't beat that. |

I did 4 theater gigs with Jimmy Buffet's sax player (Amy Lee) from that Coral Reefer band. I think that she was with him for about 14 years. recently moved back to ATL with her husband. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
