If there was no Ralphe Armstrong, there would not be Jaco Pastorius. Period! When Jaco did not get a job with Mahavishnu Orchestra, because Jaco played regular bass, Ralphe played fretless, Jaco went home and pulled all of the frets from his bass with the knife! Ralphe got the job! http://youtu.be/RmVGkCWeJrM

| | | DavidSinRocks. His playing is very sophisticated and clean, and he's got machine timing. Plus he's the real deal and not a basement shredder. Unfortunately, he's an *******. He blocked me for knocking sense into people saying he's better than professionals, and his band steals vocal melodies and riffs from RATM and RHCP. Credit were it's due though. |

| | | FingersMoran - Lots of orignal material and very creative. Also, he's a lefty with a wicked custom 6-string. http://www.youtube.com/user/fingersmoran

Ralphe said that and others confirmed, including Jean Luc Ponty and John McLaughlin....

That said, he's gone further through his band and videos that I likely ever will, so I know I don't really have the right to criticize. He's usually been kind enough to answer a question or two that I've posted on his vids, so I give him props for that, in addition to his great ear and super clean playing.

It seems like every video he makes is on a new single-humbucker bass with loads of compression. But he's still pretty incredible.
