Who's your favorite jazz bassist?

Sign in to disble this ad
I know lots and lots of jazz bassists that really know how to groove and know where to put the notes and where not to, but I've often pondered who my favorite one of all time would be. I think after all the cd's and videos that I've heard and seen I must say that it's a toss up between Tom Kennedy and/or Jimmy Johnson. Those two are some of my favorite jazz bassists, and yes, I do prefer jazz bassists to most other styles of bassists simply because I like jazz a lot.

So who's yours?

My favorite jazz players are Chris Wood, from Medeski Martin & Wood, and Steve Swallow, I love his work with John Scofield.

I always liked his playing a lot.

I'll put Sean Malone out there for Cortlandt, and Steve Rodby from the Pat Metheny Group.

Today it's Ben Allison. Last week was Dave Holland. All depends on what I'm listening to at the time.

Will probably change again tomorrow....
