Why do you think Geddy switched 4001's?

He had a 1974? Pickup close to neck, white plastic surrounding the Badass

Then he got a post 74? Neck pup moved further back, no more white surround for the bridge?

I dont think people like them nowadays man.I heard some bad stuff about them basses.Heres a vid of a guy trying to fix one & he is a little funny when he speakes but he knows his s*** Fixes alot of guitars on YT by the name of Dave.

Some of his methods are unreal but work unreal , his an amazing guy.He knows about Rickenbackers.I cant say why Geddy stopped playing them but i would think that once he picked up a Fender J it was all over for the RICKI & thinking to himself how could he have played them basses for so long !!
