Why the hell was the thread closed??

It seems to me that everytime a thread that might result in some real discussion is opened on this site some a$$ has to run to the mod and have it closed, ***!! isnt the whole point of posting these things to start discussions!! Why is it that people on here are incapable of participating in discussions, people may disagree with you but get over it that is life!! There is no need o start insulting the thread maker or running to a mod like a child running to a teacher. Prime example is the recently closed thread about metal 'Metal?!? Seriously?'
by zdobson . I wanted to post and then realise I cant. ***!!

What about directly asking the mods about it rather than randomly ranting about it ?
You may even consider posting your question in the right section.

Sometimes it's pretty clear that someone is simply starting a fire. The guy wasn't looking for an informed discussion. He was looking for trouble and I agree that threads like that should be closed. So do the majority of people here.

Well i think this is a perfectly good place to post the topic, it is where the topic im talking about was posted, and nothing seemed to be starting, and it seems to me he was making a valid point about some metal. And even if you disagreed with him he is entitled to air his oppinions without having the thread closed, surely if you dont like the topic dont post on it.

I just read that closed thread and his first post was ridiculous. For once I agree with Joe Nerve (!), he was just looking for trouble.

IBTL....

[Edit]

to give this closure....

Here is the thread in question
Metal?!? Seriously?

1.) it wasn't about "Bassists"
2.) it was a trollish topic/post
3.) I edited the 2 worst personal attacks
4.) I chose to close it.

OP: Feel free to recreate that thread in the proper section of Talkbass is you feel it warrants discussing.
