Burying yet another long time band mate and best buddy. Ricky Forkes who most recently had been playing keys for Tim Castle's band. Rick was about the 5th guy I met when I moved to Milwaukee band in '87, when he was working at Uncle Bobs. We shared a serious devotion to all things ELP and Frank Zappa and stayed great friends until his recent demise. Rick had a very bad alcohol addiction, which considering his diabetes, his two open heart surgeries and just generally not taking real good care of himself sent him packing. But I loved him dearly. We worked together briefly in Sequoya in the later 90's, and had always threatened to pull together that ELP tribute act. He grew up wanting to be Keith Emerson,I wanted to be Greg Lake. We would plot for hours on this idea. And as soon as the weed wore off,we'd realize that he and I would be the only ones at an ELP tribute band show. RIP Lil' Ricky! | I had the good fortune to play with Rick in Udi Subudi. Great player and great guy. I was terribly saddened to hear of his passing.

Our regular guy has developed a case of irregular participation, this time giving us a day notice without even offering a few suggestions of options. So we are taking the lead. We have our own rig, and we use a digital board, so we do need a reasonably sharp guy. Hopefully one of you know somebody like that. We pay well considering nobody would bring their own gear at all. We play a lot more rock and pop tunes than the average country band, fun show type bad.
Anybody got any ideas?

Embly is sure to bring interesting gear.

I think we all learned a thing or two. What amazed me was how different our roles as bassists are, yet how easily we meshed together.
I also can't stop thinking how good it all sounded. There was joy to be had in every combination of gear that was there.

If I ever buy a Precision - that's the model!
