Wooten playing his 5-string y/y?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey! I have a simple question. I've searched youtube with many different queries, but I've yet to find a clip with Vic using his 5-string Yin/Yang bass. I know he's primarily a 4-string player, but there is of course a 5-string version of the bass.

Could anyone point me to some footage or perhaps songs on his CD:s that feature the 5-string? IIRC, he tunes it E-C, and the pickups in the bass are like the ones on the 4-string, only in soapbar casings?

I also don't see the bass on his website or Fodera's website. Have they stopped building it perhaps?

Greatful for any tips! (I loved his latest album BTW).

He plays it on the DVD he did with Carter Beauford. While they are tracking a tune, he plays his YY 5 in the booth. Pretty cool.

Yeah, that is my conclusion as well. However, it's always on a stand behind him when he's on stage. Anyone ever tried one?

IIRC some of the 5 string parts on Yin/Yang were recorded with it. I don't recall ever seeing footage of him using it though.
