I was looking at Vic's website and I noticed he had some tour dates with Chick Corea's Elektric Band. I wish I could go to one of those shows

I love Patitucci, but that sounds like it would be great to see.

Was Jimmy Earl the last bassist to fill this chair, or has there been anyone since him? I really haven't kept up w/ Chick's music in years.

I think Mike Pope was in the mix of bass players too, I've heard John P, Jim Earl, Mike Pope with him. I think he uses guys when John can't do it, or maybe just trys fresh things. But, Yeah Vic would be cool to see with him!

Cool, I'd never even heard of Mike Pope until I saw Bill Bruford & Tim Garland's Earthworks Underground Orchestra live in NYC a couple years ago. Had no idea who he was or who else he'd played with, and haven't heard his name since, but man did he tear that sh*t up!

Yeah there was a Yahoo Video or Youtube video I saw with Mike on bass, and yeah he was playing the crap out of it!

Very cheesy, but the song is as cool as anything, and I dig the 80's vibe a lot!

They're playing L.A. on my birthday at Catalina, and I will be there. The week before, the same club has Mike Stern's group with Richard Bona, and I will be there as well.

Tal Wilkenfeld (sp??) did a tour of Australia this yeah with him/them.

I like Wooten, but for some reason, the fit just doesn't seem right to me.

Not saying he can't do it, hell if anyone could-he can, but for some reason, Wooten/Elektric Band Wooten/Elektric Band.
Doesn't seem right.

Ric Fierabracci did a whole tour with the Elektric Band about a year and a half ago.

Chick seems to get only killin bassists, of course!

I think Wooten has done a few shows with the Elektric Band already so it's been tested and it worked obviously. I can't wait to see the outcome!

I know he uses Patitucci whenever he possibly can, for obvious reasons! I believe Chick considers JP to be the finest bassist (electric or upright) around.. Sounds about right to me too.

Corea's been the special guest at some Flecktones shows, so I think Wooten probably sees it as returning the favor.

I wonder what Stanley Clarke would have to say about that?

(for my money I prefer Clarke on both instruments, even if JP is a wizard on the 6!)
