world record bass speed

Is there a record? I know theres guitar picking (320 BPM) and double bass kick but what about bass playes doing finger running. And How fast are you?
I've got 260BPM

At that speed it's difficult for me to imagine it's very musical. I'd much rather hear a melodic player that plays with passion and sensitivity than a fast one. Speed is extremely over-rated.

Anyhow, I can play fingerstyle at 800 bpm.

dude... i think the real question here is, how many push-ups YOU can do?

as for playing fast.... in all my years, I can't say I've measured my top rate BPM. I can say however, that I've accomplished every song I've set out to learn.

May I ask why you want to know how fast other players play? Are you comparing yourself? Or you just want to know where you stand in terms of your talent vs others?

Let me ask you this..... can you groove at 65BPM?

Thats just index and middle, sixth notes. I can do alot more then just play that. Speed can be used for a elment of playing. I do alot more then pound 16th nots that fast.The guitarist is on youtube. He plays flight of the bumble bees at 320. He goes up like 60 beats everytime. Here it is

I hate when people write that they would rather watch a great melodic player, of course you would. I mean i prefer to watch a sexy woman jog on the beach but im still interested in watching the 100 meter sprint

I suppose it can be a great accomplishment to be able to play fast. Still, it has severely limited usefulness and it won't guarantee you a spot on most band's/artist's "A" list. Listen to what's making it onto the airwaves - although there is some flash in a guitar solor here or there, most of what the musicians are bringing is just good, solid, tight musicianship.

IMO, a record for fastest playing is about as significant as a record for how far you can throw a bass. Neither have anything to do with playing bass.

But typing is useful. I'm pretty sure a boss would love to have a paper in 10 minutes instead of and hour. You'll be more efficient. But speed on guitar is just like in sports. Think about in hockey, basket ball or football. You cant go 1000 mph all the time but when you do, use it as a weapon. Speed on guitar is an asset to add a different texture to the music.

i don't know how fast i can play, but in their quest for speed folks like victor wooten and marcus miller do things like double thumb technique
and stanley clarke uses flamenco style rakes a lot (can you guess which concert i was 8th row at recently?)
i'm sure there's got to be a world record for it, though,
some folks are into that kind of thing...

I think we shared our perspectives on playing fast. Isn't sharing personal perspectives what forums are about? So why do folks like you and distrot come along and get all uppity when others sharing another perspective? I made an honest, personal, non-attacking comment at the beginning of the thread. Which led to others chiming in with their opinions. Are you saying that was a wrong thing to do?

the nature of the question, rather the manner in which it was asked, IMHO was not much different than asking how much weight one can lift.... I didn't take it as him asking what the record is so much as him informing TB that he can play at said BPM.... maybe I was reading too far into his question. Point is I took it as him showing off.... or bragging for that matter!
