YouTube - Brandon Rose 10 year old Bass Guitar riff
I'm sure this video has been posted somewhere before, but anyway, I think it's great proof that you don't need larger-than-usual hands to play bass well! That kid does some fills that are not so easy and are pretty jumpy on the neck! Incredible!
I don't really know how many people thought this about bass players, but I know that I thought (as I started playing bass, that is) that having bigger hands would have made it easier to play bass (especially after watching Jaco), but I've learned better since then and like I said, this video is a great demonstration of that!
Did anyone else ever think having big hands were better for playing bass? |

Lots of kids who play violin or piano that play much more complicated pieces at that age.

I physically strapped my 5'er onto a local female player who said that; showed her how to properly hold her fretting hand. She could easily cover the board, so I asked her when she was going to get a 6'er!

What I would like to see is some six foot two guy playing a bass that is just about as long as he is tall. Probably about the same proportions as for this young guy...
