"We Can Work It Out"...ridiculous.
Other notables-
Michael Omartian ("Yah Mo B There"), 'Hawk' Wolinski (Rufus), David Frank (The Sytem), & the king of the catchy Pop-bass hook, Rod Temperton.
A local guy around here that went by the name of "Termite" was a synth bass monster...TOP, Jaco, Worrell-inspired Funk, etc.

Also, the kid from Soulive is a beast as well.

I believe B-3 bass is a combination of foot pedals and/or left hand. Plus it still qualifies as keyboard bass! Lots of B-3 players cover the bass--Jimmy Smith, Larry goldings, larry Young etc. Jack McDuff seemed liked he would incorprate a bassist pretty often though. Ray manzarek held the bottom down pretty well too! |

Do we have to pay a fine or anything to talk about this here?

That's the difference between the guys banging away on lower octaves and the guys who really understand the function of the bass instrument. For me that's the beauty of it... while the simplicity of the instrument is obvious, what to do with it isn't.
Re: Stevie: I can play "Boogie On Reggae Woman"... I just can't "play" it like Stevie. It's similar to trying to nail Rocco's feel with TOP.
Better yet, check him out on drums... seems easy until you try to do it |

Still, Stevie, Bernie and Larry Goldings are a tad bit more badass than the above. IMHO. |
