All these years I didn't know Ray Brown played electric bass guitar.

That is a great YouTube find. Ray Brown is the best. Its great to hear how he was developing those bass lines and the fact that it had some leaks and was kind of "raw" in spots makes it even better.

Ray Brown played electric bass everyday...on '70s daytime TV on the Merv Griffin Show. He played a sunburst P-bass.

I'm looking for youtube links...so far, zilch.
Couple of memories I do have-
Brown's electric tone was big, dominant, & present.
Another time, it was only Ray & Merv upfront on the stage. On URB, Brown began the tune in a quasi-walking vibe...Griffin started 'singing'.
It's pretty minimal with just Griffin's voice carrying the melody with Brown's bass.
A few bars in, Griffin asks Ray "...are you sure we're doing the same song"?
Brown just smiled & nodded.
