The Bass Gang

I came accross a quartet of double bassists on the Giovanni Lucchi website. The Lucchi website plays music while you peruse it. There is also a link to The Bass Gang website. I ordered one of their CDs with a guest appearance by Franco Pettracchi, and others.

The music would appeal to a broad audience. They do an interesting mixture of popular music, classical, jazz compositions etc.

They featured on the cover of "Double Bassist" #35 (Winter 2005), which also contained a very interesting article and pictures of these crazy guys. According to the article, they've been touring Asia; I wonder if they'll ever tour state-side…



…come to think of it, I somehow doubt it if Homeland Security has its way (see other articles about European Orchestras being unable to get visas for the USA, and soloists not being allowed to have their instruments travel in the cabin as hand-baggage )
