Bassist with Wes Montgomery

Does anyone recognize the bass player with Wes Montgomery in this video of Twisted Blues on youtube.com? http://tinyurl.com/ftsxt

Thanks!

That's Wes' trio of 1965 playing at the BBC studios. Harold Mabern on piano, Arthur Harper on bass, and Jimmy Lovelace on drums. Of course, everyone knows about Harold Mabern and Lovelace's contributions as players and as mentors to young musicians, but I have to admit, I don't know much about Arthur Harper, except that he came from Philadelphia, played a lot with Shirley Scott, and died a couple of years ago, around the same time as Lovelace, I think.

Thanks Brent. Here's another short video clip I just found of Arthur Harper playing Twisted Blues with Wes: http://tinyurl.com/zva37

The last time I saw Jimmy was at the Temple of Dendur room at the Metropolitan Museum; it just seemed to be the perfect place. I only got to play with him a few times.

My favorite story- somebody asked him to do a gig in Brooklyn and he turned it down. When they asked him why, he said it was "metaphysically impossible" for him to go to Brooklyn.

I own this video on DVD. I also wondered about bassplayer Arthur Harper: I never heard or read of him before. His left hand (or forearm) posture looks somehow weird to me. But I like his playing.
Wes is really amazing, he just has everything. One of my absolutely jazz favourites. And his brother is a great bassplayer, too.
