Which bassist would you vote for President?

*Stolen from the Electric Bass forum*

Greetings TB'ers,

Being an election year I wanted to pose a question to the group. If you could elect any bassist (dead or alive) to be President, who would you choose and why? Mods, plz move if I'm in the wrong place.

You can select a player based on anything. Musical contribution, effectiveness in respective band, cool factor, it's totally up to you.

Criteria: 1) Must be a bassist. 2) Must be famous for BEING a bassist (no political figures who also "happen" to play bass) 3) Hey, why are you still reading this? Get on down the thread and VOTE already!

-----

My vote is for Peter Lloyd. He's really politically aware and I think he'd do a good job!!

Robert Deleo. After dealing with Scott Weiland for 15 years, running a country would be a piece of cake.

my vote goes to...

I would probably vote for Bottesini given his contributions to solo bass literature and how he exploited the possibilities of the double bass as a solo instrument. He also conducts and composes other works by the way...

I'd also consider Koussevitzky...

From the jazz world, it'd be either Ray Brown or Mingus.

Robert Trujillo. We have too many "political superstars" and special interest groups in Washington D.C. Trujillo is humble, consistant and shares the limelight well

I dunno, in his Metallica press photos, Robert looks like he's using so much Preparation H already.... I'd be afraid the stress of the White House coul make him.......

As long as we are being silly, anything is going to go in this thread.

Mingus with his shotgun and a gallon of cheap wine, being evicted from his apartment, yeah that really paints a picture of sanity and security in leadership!

Or nominating relativley unknown bassists, that's kind of like bringing that unknown Gov of Alaska in.....(for more on that check out bassist Jay Leonhart's video blog on that worrisome turn of events..

I don't think that there is a professional bass player or any other musician on earth who could be up for the enormous job of stewarding the mess the world is in right now.

That's because they are MUSICIANS, not POLITICIANS. Two entirely different paths of complete life devotion, IMHO.

Is there a fire in the house, my friends? If so, extinguish this thread ASAP.

Stanly Clarke gets my vote. Inovated, experienced, and a down-to-earth nice guy (at least that's what a few of my friends who have met him report).

All of Mr. Clark's devotion and study with L. Ron Hubbard would really win some points, I suppose. Wonder what they would say in Utah?

Helluva musician though! His early work on electric bass changed things for sure. Lately he looks to be in a lot of physical pain after he does his solo acoustic bass number.
