A Defection

One of our Philadelphia bassists recently gave up.... and switched to guitar. He yearned for more spotlight...

A TBDBer? Ken Smith sold off his business and his Gilkes to become a guitar player? I don't believe it!

OTOH, his guitar playing will probably improve as a result of no longer dividing his practice time between multiple instruments.

Yeah, but would your mom appreciate opening a letter all about his bass skills?

Paul, several people tried talking to him. He asked for honest opinions. Ever have someone ask for your opinion and then get mad when he didn't like what you said ?

just a joke

Ken, this was absolutely just a joke. That's why I used the wink. I guess I should have added "JK" as well. I picked you because I figured with your long running business as a bass luthier, it would be obvious. I mentioned the Gilkes because you bring it up enough in your posts that I know you must love the sound.

For the record, "I was just kidding about Ken becoming a guitar player."

You know, there's worse things than being a guitar player. Hell, I've been know to pick up the ol' six string occasionally my own self.
