Smoke stack is amazing. I made an Eddie Khan playlist today and listened at work: Smoke Stack, Freddie Hubbard's "Breaking point", Joe Henderson's "Our Thing" & Jackie Mclean's "One Step Beyond" all first rate albums. He is a beautiful player and sounds strong on all of them.

I just picked this up today because of Eddie , but Herbie is on this and I have not been listening to Dolphy lately.... I should be listening to Dolphy more.... Any ways some really advanced playing for 1963.
Yes, the bass is under mixed. Sounds like distant miking closer to the piano and they try to turn it up for bass solos' ...
