I hear plenty of shape in his material. Maybe depends on what interpretation you like. He has an extraordinary ability to shape a pizzicato and I don't know about anyone else, but I hear enough texture in his Bach to make it almost like surround-sound.

Watch and listen to this. I realize this may not be classical, but if this is mechanical playing . . . . .

I have never seen nor heard Edger Myer play. I have heard about him from my teacher and from alot of post about him here on TB. Is that him on the Bass in that video?

There's probably a few players that are around Edgar's level in the classical realm, but what I think really sets him apart is his versatility. Even if you don't like the on vibrato, you have to be amazed that he plays in tune like he does. He's a great composer, he can improvise in many different styles, he can play piano, he sounds great on all the odd meter stuff that Bela Fleck writes, he's been on a million records in Nashville, and on top of that, he's a great entertainer and brings a sense of humor to his concerts. And he's an INNOVATOR. Talk about musicality and interpretation or other subjective things all you like, but he's the only person that brings all that to the table!

Yes, I found out that Edger Myer is coming to Chattanooga to play with the CSO on march 24th and 25th. Since I am in the CYS I get in the CSO concerts free.

sorry, guys, but i stand by my opinion. Someone who does shape notes beautifully is Joel Quarrington. Also, Quarrington's sound is just ravishing by comparison.
