| There's probably a few players that are around Edgar's level in the classical realm, but what I think really sets him apart is his versatility. Even if you don't like the on vibrato, you have to be amazed that he plays in tune like he does. He's a great composer, he can improvise in many different styles, he can play piano, he sounds great on all the odd meter stuff that Bela Fleck writes, he's been on a million records in Nashville, and on top of that, he's a great entertainer and brings a sense of humor to his concerts. And he's an INNOVATOR. Talk about musicality and interpretation or other subjective things all you like, but he's the only person that brings all that to the table! |
